Textiles
It is our vision that Design and Technology (Textiles) provides the children with the opportunities to develop and extend skills whilst expressing their individual interests, thought and ideas. Students can produce creative work, exploring their ideas and recording their experiences. They can become proficient in drawing and design techniques as well as practical sewing and surface design using compliant materials. They will develop skills to evaluate and analyse creative works using the language of textiles design and manufacture. We hope they will develop knowledge about great artists and designers, and understand the historical and cultural development of their art forms.
We give the children the time and space to explore new themes, new techniques, and ways to be creative without the need to be perfect. We want our children to take pride in artefacts they make themselves and see the value in making personalised products. It is through the children’s experience of Design and Technology at The Hub, that we enable the children to feel safe, secure, and happy, to produce their most creative work and develop their motor skills in a nurturing environment.
