Welcome to The Hub School

About Us

We are a school offering specialist support for students with social, emotional and mental health needs.  Our aim is to improve the life chances of young people for whom mainstream education has not so far been successful. We provide our students with an alternative educational experience that offers them a nurturing, safe and supportive environment, with a skilled and experienced staff team. We support our students to accelerate their academic, social and emotional skills development and ultimately enable them to re-engage with learning and achieve their potential.

Although we are one school community, our support for young people can be split into 4 distinct areas:

The Hub School Anlaby

Our school based in Anlaby is a specialist provision for students who have been identified of having Social, Emotional and Mental Health (SEMH) needs. These young people quite often require adjustments to their education that mainstream schools are unable to successfully implement longer term. We aim to provide the specialist support in order for students to thrive and be successful

The Hub School Welton

Our school based in Welton is for Key Stage 3 students currently on roll at a mainstream school who are experiencing challenges in their current setting. These challenges may be academically, socially, emotionally or multiple factors which impact on a student’s progress. We offer a short term package of support, working with the young person, their school and family in break the cycle of inconsistency, address barriers to success and ultimately work towards a successful transition back in mainstream school full time

Commissioned Placements

We work with a number of different education providers across the county and beyond to create a bespoke education package for Key Stage 4 students who require an alternative curriculum offer to that of which a typical mainstream school may be able to offer. This curriculum may be a combination of (but not limited to) English, Maths, Vocational Qualifications and Personal Development. The aims of this curriculum and to equip students with experiences, skills and knowledge, including qualifications, which prepare students for the next stage at Post 16.

Outreach

We recognise that schools may need additional support, advice or guidance in order to best support a young person. Our Outreach Service is multifaceted, offering support for not only young people, but also the staff in schools who work with them on a regular basis. We have many strands of our Outreach Service, from working directly with young people to offering training to schools in the fields of SEMH, behaviour and pastoral care. The over-arching aim of our Outreach Team is to help a young person overcome barriers to education and support schools in ensuring they can continue to build on progress in the longer term.
